At Canton Village Theater.
ART RECEPTION: December 5th, 2018 and 7:00 PM. Reception is free and open to the public.
December's Art Exhibition is by Jeremy Rheault. Born in Fargo North Dakota in 1971, a Minnesota resident till 1984, preceded a move to Plymouth Michigan where he attended Plymouth Canton Schools, then receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University. A Westland Michigan resident and twenty year art educator is devoting more time to his passion of creating art. An advocate for other artists, he enjoys meeting other artists and showing their works. His artwork is on display and for sale at Canton’s Spoon’s Place and Plymouth’s Liberty Street Brewing Company’s Liberty Room Gallery currently.
"Artists are always looking looking for creative surfaces. Cardboard, old artist prints, and maps rarely fit into that category. I was inspired by one of my favorite artist styles, Philip Burke, an amazing painter/illustrator. I grew up with his Rolling Stone magazine celebrity portraits and looked forward to each one during my high school and college days. His elaborate colors, distortions and exaggerations of famous rockers and celebrities with a clean white background always interested me.
I am also inspired by the current social and cultural awareness of personas or events. I also try to introduce art history and provoke research and awareness of artists or historical figures past and present.
I find the speed that I’m capable of producing these portraits to be quite a creative outlet for me. The layers of paint and the texture that the oil pastels leave are keys to my work. I am looking for multiple layers and media with each piece. I am also intensely interested in scale and presentation."
